Dear Friend,

That's me, Dean Rose, doing what I love to do: rolling up my sleeves and helping someone get back on the road in a car that runs flawlessly.

I'm a mechanic. And the story I'm going to tell you is just one example of why I wake up with a smile on my face, happy about what I do for a living.

A woman named Linda called us, barely able to talk through her tears. We tried our best to comfort her over the phone.

She was upset because her "check engine" light was blinking like a broken tv screen... her brakes were vibrating so much it felt like she was stuck in a gigantic tuning fork... and on top of everything, she had to go work all day and "didn't have time" to bring her car in to get repaired.

I have professional experience of 40 years (since 1974) working on cars. I've had my shop here in Athens for over 20 years now... making us one of the most trusted (and experienced) repair shops here in town.

My mechanics, Jimmy Collins and Joe Staton, each have over 20 years experience.

But you can't rest on your laurels, and we don't. Cars today have more technology in one circuit than there used to be in the entire car in the early '80s. So you have to adapt over time and keep learning.

My mechanics and I serve you better because we live and breathe cars. We're each ASE-certified, which means we have to pass 3rd-party tests every 5 years to make sure we stay on top of the ever-changing technology that goes into vehicles.

I believe these types of practices are an embarrassment to my profession. Although they aren't always illegal, in my opinion they are unethical and immoral.
